Henna is a natural dye made from the leaves of the henna plant, a shrub that grows well in hot, dry climates. The use of the dye dates back thousands of years across Northern Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. The ancient Egyptians are believed to be among the first to use henna. In the tombs of ancient Egyptian royals, some mummies were found with their hair and nails dyed bright orange-red.
