The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Tom, who wakes up in London’s Lord Funt Hospital after being hit on the head by a cricket ball. One night, while getting ready for bed, Tom notices a group of children sneaking out of the ward. Each child has their own illness and personality, and together they form the Midnight Gang. Although they initially refuse Tom’s request to join, they eventually allow him to become a trial member. The Midnight Gang’s mission is to make children’s dreams come true, even as its members come and go.
