Taking notes is important for learning because it helps people organize and remember information. Typing notes on a laptop, as shown in Picture A, is faster and makes it easier to edit, copy, and search for information. However, it can lead to a shallow understanding, as people often type out everything word for word without thinking. In comparison, writing by hand, as seen in Picture B, helps people remember things better since it requires summarizing key ideas. This method, though, is slower and less convenient for storing or sharing notes.
