Although people tell little lies from time to time, is it actually acceptable to lie? The short answer is “No.” When we tell a white lie, it may seem like we are doing it in the other person’s interest because we don’t want to offend or upset them. However, telling a lie, even a small one, can cause problems. When we lie, it shows that we don’t trust the other person to handle the truth well. We are afraid to be honest with them.
