For more than 5,000 years, humans have enjoyed using drinking straws to shift beverages from containers to their mouths. The earliest examples of drinking straws come from Sumerian history. These straws were much larger than the ones we know today, and they were designed to let people drink beer from large, heavy vats that sat on the floor. The drinking straw was convenient in two different ways.

五千多年以來，人們喜歡用吸管將飲料從容器中轉移到他們的嘴裡。吸管最早的先例是來自蘇美人歷史。這些吸管比我們如今所知道的要大得多，它們被設計成讓人們可以從擺在地上又大又重的桶子內喝到啤酒。吸管有兩種不同的便利之處。
