J: Julia    W: William

Julia tells her classmate William that she chose to study in Taiwan as an exchange student to explore her family history.

J:     William, do you know why I chose Taiwan for my exchange program?

W:   I thought you were just attracted by Taiwanese food.

J:     That’s true, but it wasn’t my only reason.

W:   What else made you choose Taiwan?

J:     I took a DNA ancestry test earlier this year, and it showed that some of my ancestors came from Taiwan.

W:   Really? That must have been an exciting discovery. So your trip is a kind of DNA tourism, isn’t it?

J:     Exactly. I’m hoping to trace my family’s roots while studying here.

 

茱莉亞告訴她的同學威廉，她選擇來臺灣當交換學生，是為了探索自己的家族歷史。

茱莉亞： 威廉，你知道我為什麼選擇臺灣做交換學生計畫嗎？

威　廉： 我以為妳只是被臺灣的美食吸引而已。

茱莉亞： 是沒錯，但這不是我唯一的理由。

威　廉： 還有什麼原因讓妳選擇臺灣？

茱莉亞： 今年初，我做了一次 DNA 血統測試，結果顯示我有一些祖先來自臺灣。

威　廉： 真的嗎？那一定是一項令人興奮的發現。所以你的這趟旅程算是一種 DNA 尋根旅遊，對嗎？

茱莉亞： 沒錯。我希望在這裡唸書的同時，能追溯家族的根源。
