Although Tamagotchi began as an activity for one person, it has now grown into a social movement. One clear example is the Toronto Tamagotchi Club, which was founded to bring fans together. The club was created in 2022 in response to people’s loneliness after the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than connecting through social media, members choose to meet in person and share their interest in virtual pets.
