In Japan, about 9.3 million people aged 65 and above are still part of the workforce as of 2024. This means roughly one quarter of seniors continue working beyond retirement age. As the cost of living rises each year, many seniors find that pension income alone is barely enough to cover daily expenses. To maintain financial stability, some choose part-time work rather than fully retire. One service that responds to this reality is OK Obaachan, which hires grandmas between the ages of 60 and 94 to provide various forms of assistance.
