Visitors to Turkey often notice a special sight: blue glass beads hanging from shop entrances, house windows, or even trees in forests. These charms are called Nazar Boncuğu, or the Turkish evil eye. They are believed to be talismans that keep evil and bad luck away. The evil eye refers to the idea that an unfriendly gaze caused by jealousy or envy can bring harm to others.
