G: George K: Kelly
George, an American, runs into his Taiwanese friend Kelly and notices she is carrying a lot of stuff.
G: Kelly? Why are you carrying so many things? Is that all incense and ghost money?
K: Oh, hi George. Yes, these are offerings for Chungyuan Pu Tu.
G: I’ve never heard of that. What is it?
K: It’s part of our traditional beliefs. People believe that during the seventh month of the lunar calendar, the spirits of our ancestors and wandering ghosts return to the human world. Chungyuan Pu Tu is a time to make offerings to them.
G: Wow! That sounds a little scary!

喬 治： 凱莉？妳為什麼提著這麼多東西？這些都是香和紙錢嗎？
