Indonesia is a diverse island nation made up of over 17,000 islands and home to around 600 distinct ethnic groups. While each group has its own cultural identity, some are especially recognized for their distinctive features. Among these are the Butonese people. The Butonese live mainly on Buton Island and neighboring islands in Southeast Sulawesi. It is estimated that their population is about 230,000. Traditionally, the Butonese have been known as seafarers and traders.

　　印尼是一個多元化的島國，由超過一萬七千座島嶼組成，且是大約六百個不同族群的家園。雖然各族群皆有自己的文化身份，但有些族群因其獨特的特徵而格外受到矚目。布頓人正是在這其中。布頓人主要居住在布頓島以及位於東南蘇拉威西省的鄰近島嶼上。據估計其人口約二十三萬人。傳統上，布頓人以身為水手與商人聞名。
